Tour and locations description

Departure of tourists wishing to participate in the tour will be made in the morning. Time and location will be agreed in advance. The journey is provided by a comfortable car or minibus, which will be served by our professional driver and an experienced guide of our travel agency.

The first place to visit our adventure tour will be unforgettable hospitable Guria. one of the pearls of Western Georgia, and then the romantic, unforgettable, Black Sea resort village Shekvetili, where you can see the incredible architecture of the villas, which on the one hand are buried in evergreen thousand-year-old pines, and on the other hand to them the sea is coming very close.

You will have a rare chance to see the most beautiful Black Sea coast, fantastically beautiful, exciting or calm, peaceful sea, cottages of unusual architecture and evergreen whispering silent giant pines.

Colchis National Park

After a short rest, our tour will continue towards the Colchis Lowland, you will be able to fully enjoy the nature of Colchis, its magnificent views, natural wealth and vegetative splendor. Our experienced guide will tell you a lot of interesting things about this region. Without moving away from the Black Sea coast, we will become visitors to the Colchis National Park Visitor Center, where those who wish to ride on a pontoon or a boat around the picturesque Paliastomi Lake will have the opportunity to purchase tickets jointly or individually (optional). The duration of the lake and surrounding wildlife tour will be at least 1 hour 30 minutes.

Paliastomi Lake and Pichora River

Lake Paliastoma is an unusual lake; it is fed by the rivers Pichora and Kaparcha, which flow into it, and flow out into a small mouth of the Black Sea, by the way, by 1933 the lake was fresh, and now the water in it is of marine type. Historians all over the world, when they mention Paliastom, immediately recall the Colchis Atlantis, because under the water surface of the lake they found the remains of a settlement of the second century AD! The uniqueness of the water is also that it is saturated with peat deposits and hydrogen sulfide and is used in the production of certain medicines. In Paliastoma waters you can see water lilies unique in their kind: yellow and Colchis.

The tour includes two stops: on the banks of the Pichora River and for lovers of ornithology — a bird watching observation deck, which is already a separate adventure!

Kolimbari Island

The first island to visit in our
adventure tour will be the island of Kolymbari, on which during the Soviet era there was a military unit of air defense and strictly controlled special air defense radars, located just 90 kilometers away, on the territory of Turkey, NATO bases. There you can also see abandoned hangars, anti-aircraft equipment and the remains of the Soviet military infrastructure destroyed by time.

From the island of Kolymbari, the tour will continue along the coast of the Pechera River and Lake Paliastomi, where you can again enjoy the natural splendor of the Colchis lowland.

There will be several stops in the wild, for those who like to take interesting photos or videos, see and shoot the most beautiful and rare migratory birds, listen to interesting historical facts as presented by our guide, after which we will return to the island of Kolymbare again.

City of Poti

Our next route is the city of Poti. Poti is the most ancient city of Western Georgia.  It appeared on the site of the ancient Greek city of Phasis. The well-known myth about Argoneft is also associated with it. Poti is one of the three main ports of the 20th century.

Poti Lighthouse

Lovers of antiquity, history and adventure will be interested in a tour to the current old lighthouse. Don’t miss your chance to visit Poti’s lighthouse, this silent giant with over 150 years of history. The design was cast in England itself in 1860 by order of the Georgian government specifically for the port city of Poti. It first appeared in 1884. Since then, it has never gone out, to this day illuminating the way for ships. This structure weighs 126 tons and is cast in the highest quality cast iron. Unfortunately, it is not known exactly who designed the lighthouse, but it is known that they served in a British construction company.

The height of the lighthouse is 39 meters, and the visibility is 16 nautical miles, which is 30 km. The lighthouse has 160 internal steps. The uniqueness of the Poti lighthouse is that it alternately glows with either red or white light. By the way, the Batumi lighthouse shines only in red, and the Sukhumi lighthouse only in white light. From its height, you can see an unusual view of the Black Sea area, and the city of Poti itself, like all its infrastructure, is visible from here, in full view. The attraction of the lighthouse is the famous Fresnel lens and the Maritime Museum of Georgia, which is located at the base of the lighthouse. A pleasant bonus to all adventures can be the unexpected appearance of dolphins. They are frequent guests of the lighthouse area, you just need to carefully monitor the surface of the sea.

You will still have the opportunity to admire the unique sights of architecture. Admirers of ancient churches and cathedrals will be able to visit the unique Cathedral in the center of Poti. It is a smaller copy of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. You can get acquainted with its history and interior decoration.
